Dear Member(s)
Club Academy
appointments in Perth have been an ongoing problem and I
have been put under a lot of pressure from the Scottish FA over the last few weeks to
find a rosolution.
On Friday night I
got a call again from the Scottish FA to advise that they had tried Fife, Edinburgh and
Stirling without success. Campbell Money is obviously very concerned at
this ans to that end, Campbell himself ended up driving up to cover one of the games.
Edinburgh managed late on to supply one referee.
It is a wholly
embarrassing situation that we are regularly unable to cover these matches and there are many reasons for this. I would go on
record to say that Jeff Banks has done all he can to get these games covered to
no avail.
Ultimately I need
to make a change to the appointment process. As such I have asked Jeff
Banks to step back from the role. Likewise Neil / Willie who cover Montrose FC.
Going forward Kelly
Kyle will make the CAS appointments in Perth / County and Graeme Bowman will
continue to cover Dundee & Dundee United whilst acting as the overall CAS co-ordinator.
Kelly has been tasked with working with her existing pool of referees for the girls and taking
on the pool for CAS to then work more coherently to ensure all appointments are
covered.
She will need some
initial support I am sure. Myself and Steve Pullar will be sitting down
with St Johnstone as soon as possible.
As I have
reiterated to Jeff, this is no slight on what he has done. When he took
CAS over he had the system working perfectly weeks in advance. However
kick off times and lack of officials have not helped his cause. I have
thanked Jeff for his efforts and he will continue to help us develop our
referees under his SFA Development Advisor role.
If you have any
questions please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Regards
Neil Watters - Association Manager
